Description: Simply laying this cover will refresh your tatami room. Use it to refresh sun-faded tatami or as a cover to protect new tatami from getting dirty. Uses long, domestically produced (Kyushu-produced) igusa of 120cm or more. Approximately 88cm of this is used. This is a high-quality product made with long igusa, resulting in less white at the edges. (The white part is not due to sun fading; it is the color of the root and tip of the igusa.) Longer igusa is considered higher quality. Igusa is reddish-brown at the tip, white at the root, and green in the middle. Using more of the good quality green middle part results in a more durable and beautiful finish. Igusa will fade over time with sun exposure, but products using more of the green middle part will fade evenly and beautifully, developing a unique character. This product is finished with Itobiki-ori, the same weaving method used for tatami surfaces. Compared to Soume-ori, it is more durable due to the higher number of igusa strands. Its smooth surface makes it resistant to dust accumulation. Itobiki-ori is recommended for those who want to use it for a long time or require durability. Uses domestically produced (Kyushu-produced) igusa. Each strand of domestic igusa is thick, with a thick outer layer and fine fibers, providing elasticity and excellent durability. Igusa has air purifying and humidity regulating properties, and is resistant to dirt. The igusa has been treated with Aomori Hiba (antibacterial and deodorizing effects). Both sides can be used, making it economical.
