The original Fugu-mark Shin Urushi was started over fifty years ago by Edogawa Kobo as a substitute for genuine urushi lacquer. It became overwhelmingly popular and well-loved as a suitable coating for fishing rod making.
Because it is derived from plant-based resins, it closely resembles the texture of genuine urushi lacquer, does not cause skin irritation, and is a new sensory coating that does not require Muro. Additionally, it is resistant to oil, alkali, acid, water, and heat. Whether applied directly or used to draw patterns, it can be polished like genuine urushi lacquer, producing fine texture and gloss comparable to real urushi even after polishing.
This paint adheres well to various materials such as fishing rods, lures, ceramics, crafts, leather products, and metals, making it versatile for different creative ideas. A new color has been added using pigment made from hematite (iron oxide), bringing the total to 25 types.
