The game features 1VS1 versus fighting-style battles, but the duel takes place in an aerial combat zone with no ground. On a field where you can move freely up and down, shooting battles with bullet hell patterns are generated through simple button presses, creating strategic exchanges regardless of distance and position. Special moves and super special moves called Spell Cards can also be performed with just one button, allowing for spectacular techniques.
Additional characters and story in the PS4 version
A new playable character, "Reisen Udongein Inaba," is added, and her battle BGM is composed by BeatMarios, a popular musician in music games. Additionally, a new story featuring Reisen as the protagonist, which continues from the PC version of Touhou Shinpiroku, depicts the aftermath and connects to the official Touhou Project storyline, linking with the original game and manga.
