What is coconut oil?
It is a rare plant oil in which more than 90% consists of "saturated fatty acids." Therefore, it is characterized by being the most resistant to oxidation among plant oils.
Although it is called saturated fatty acid, coconut oil is composed of over 60% "medium-chain fatty acids" (MCT), so its properties differ from beef fat or lard, which contain more "long-chain fatty acids."
Medium-chain fatty acids (MCT) are efficiently burned as energy and are less likely to become neutral fats compared to the long-chain fatty acids of typical plant oils.
Additionally, it does not contain trans fatty acids, which are said to pose risks such as arteriosclerosis and myocardial infarction.

It is liquid above 25°C and gradually solidifies as the temperature drops.
Even when eaten with cold foods, the oil does not solidify inside the body.
Repeated melting and solidifying do not change its quality.

● Lauric acid with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects
The "lauric acid," a type of medium-chain fatty acid, is also contained in breast milk.
It works to protect the body from bacteria and inflammation.
Since the main component of cell membranes is oil, consuming high-quality oil helps build strong cell membranes that are less susceptible to attacks.

● An oil that is resistant to heat and oxidation
Coconut oil has a high ratio of saturated fatty acids, over 90%, compared to other plant fats, making it an oil that is resistant to oxidation.
Therefore, it can be widely used not only raw but also in everyday cooking that involves heat.

● Also for oil pulling!
It is one of the health methods originating from Ayurveda, traditional Indian medicine.
Although it has been practiced since ancient times using sesame oil, recent research shows that using coconut oil, which contains a high amount of lauric acid with strong antibacterial effects, is more effective.

Take about 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon in your mouth and rinse for about 15 minutes, similar to mouthwash.
The mixture of saliva and oil exhibits antibacterial power and adsorbs oral bacteria that are said to cause various diseases.
Afterward, do not swallow the oil; spit it out into a plastic bag or similar, and rinse your mouth lightly with water.
If doing it once a day, do it immediately after waking up; if multiple times, do it in the morning and at your preferred timing.
