Sumiko Ikeda (Ikeda Sumiko)
Born March 25, 1936, in Kamakura, raised mainly in Niigata.
Encountered haiku in her late 30s, joined 'Gunto' in 1975, and became a member.
After the death of her editor-in-chief, Torii Horii, 'Gunto' ceased publication.
From 1983, she studied under Toshio Mitsuhashi, later becoming his disciple.
After working through 'Haiku Criticism', she joined 'Men', 'Mitei', 'Sentan', and 'Aki'.
On December 1, 2001, Toshio Mitsuhashi passed away.
In 2021, she received the Modern Haiku Award.
Currently, she is a member of 'Aki' and 'Toy'.
Her haiku collections include 'Sky Garden' (Modern Haiku Association Award), 'Somehow Born as a Person', 'Sailing Ship',
