Tsuyoshi, who mistakenly killed a woman while breaking into a mansion to pay for his younger brother's university tuition. His only support while serving time in Chiba prison is letters from his younger brother, Naoki. However, Naoki, discriminated against simply because his brother is an inmate, has drifted from job to job, lost his girlfriend, and had his dreams shattered. While thinking of his brother, he is overwhelmed by the magnitude of his brother's presence and the weight of his crime. Then, he got married. For his wife and child, whom he must protect, Naoki made a certain decision.
This film is an adaptation of a novel by Naoki Prize-winning author Keigo Higashino, brought to the screen by Jiro Iguchi, a hitmaker familiar from TV dramas. While it is a bold attempt to focus on the family of the perpetrator, the direction, which stays true to the characters' emotions and sometimes powerfully penetrates the viewer's heart, deals with the burden of sin.
