About the artists
Takako Kawada (Violin)
Graduated top of her class from Tokyo University of the Arts. Studied under Takeshi Kobayashi, Kazuki Saw, Chikashi Tanaka, Koichiro Harada, and Masafumi Hori. Won the 5th Spohr International Competition in 1991. Active as a soloist with orchestras including the Moscow Philharmonic, and has received high praise at the regular concert of the Saint Petersburg Symphony Orchestra held in Saint Petersburg. Awarded the 33rd ExxonMobil Music Award, Encouragement Prize in the Western Music Division in 2003. In September and October, she performed recitals in Turkey and Egypt as part of the Japan Foundation’s international cultural exchange program for fiscal year 2003.

Shinichi Fukuda (Guitar)
Studied under the late Tatsuya Saito from the age of 12. Went to Europe at 21, studying under Alberto Ponce at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, and under Oscar Gilia at the Italian Giziaana Music Academy. After winning numerous international competitions, he won the Paris International Guitar Competition in 1981. Since then, he has accumulated a distinguished record of awards both domestically and internationally, continuing his performance activities as a leading Japanese guitarist, constantly captivating fans worldwide.
In May 2008, he performed the world premiere of Leo Brouwer’s new concerto 'Concerto da Requiem' with the Rhineland-Palatinate State Symphony Orchestra in Koblenz, Germany, and in July, with the Córdoba Symphony Orchestra in Spain.
Celebrating 30 years since winning in Paris, his discography has already reached 60 albums. From Meister Music, he has released a 'Solo Works Collection' using a 19th-century guitar, and since 2002, a Spanish trilogy including 'Fantasía Sevillana' (which received the 58th Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Festival Excellence Award), as well as a Latin American works trilogy and a Tarrega works collection 'Dance of the Odalisque' and 'Etudes Brillantes'. Since 2011, he has begun the highly anticipated Bach Cycle, with the first volume titled 'Chaconne – Bach Works Collection 1'.
In recognition of Fukuda’s international activities, he was awarded the 'Foreign Minister’s Commendation for FY 2007' and received the 'Artistic Excellence Award from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology' in FY 2011.
