She meticulously imbues every song with her "voice," bringing it to life with nuanced expression, without resorting to excessive embellishment or flavoring, and depicting the inherent world of each piece with restrained touches. She tenderly embraces the keywords "lullaby," "dream," and "childlike innocence" that are placed like signposts within the program, creating a feminine yet eloquent oboe melody that captivates the ear and eye with prima donna-like flair in Bellini and Gurlitt. Media Appearance Review, etc.
This album allows you to fully enjoy the beautiful "singing" that is one of oboist Akiko Ikeda's popular factors. The oboe's characteristically soft and warm tone gracefully weaves through a collection of unique short pieces. It's a high-quality album that wonderfully captures the character of each piece, sometimes incorporating breathtaking virtuosity. (C)RS
