Soken-sha Awa-men is a chewy noodle made from non-glutinous millet and tapioca starch (modified starch) as a binder, without using any buckwheat flour or wheat flour. Manufactured in a dedicated factory in Japan. Ideal for Chinese-style soups, such as ramen-style.
These noodles are made from "awa" (millet), a grain that has been consumed since ancient times, using tapioca starch (modified starch) as a binder. They are rich in iron and suitable for supplementing zinc and vitamin B1.
**How to Prepare:**
1. Boil plenty of water in a large pot. Once boiling, add the noodles and loosen them with chopsticks.
2. They will be cooked in about 5 minutes. Take out 2-3 strands to check the firmness. When they reach your desired tenderness, turn off the heat, cover with a lid, and steam for 2 minutes.
3. After steaming, transfer to a colander and rinse with running water.
4. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and toppings.
*They also pair well with Chinese soup, so you can enjoy them in a ramen style.
**About Soken-sha:**
Soken-sha is a company dedicated to food with over half a century of history. Founded in 1968, during a period of rapid economic growth, many food additives such as chemically synthesized fragrances, colorings, and preservatives were developed, and industrially processed foods for mass production were rapidly increasing. Founder Takao Nakamura advocated, "Food and how we eat are inevitably connected to how we live. Improving our diet is improving our way of life." Sensing a crisis in the changing Japanese food environment, he founded Soken-sha with the desire to deliver foods that contribute to better health. We have consistently pursued themes that are now discussed as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for over half a century. Rather than being swayed by food trends, we are a company that asks, "Considering the environment and human health, is this the best way for society in the long term?" and proposes alternatives in the form of products, asking, "Could we do this better?". We call this stance "Counter Vision Company" and will continue to uphold this corporate philosophy of making good choices for society.
