To break the curse on the Satomi family, eight swordsmen drawn to eight beads gather and face a fierce battle in the 【虚 (Void)】 world, depicted on an overwhelming scale with VFX, and the miraculous true story of Bakin who created the story 【実 (Real)】, intertwining in an unprecedented emotional epic.

■ A story of upholding justice in a world rife with evil, featuring a luxurious cast including Japan's treasures and the most talented young actors!
In the 【実 (Real)】 part, Koji Yakusho as Bakin Takizawa, Seiyo Uchino as Hokusai Katsushika, Yuto Isomura as Bakin's son Sōhaku (Chingorō), Hana Kuroki as Sōhaku's wife O-ro, and Shino Shibara as Bakin's wife O-momo gather, representing Japan's film industry.
Additionally, Rakugo and Kabuki stars such as Danshun Tachikawa, Shido Nakamura, and Ukon Oe appear as key figures.
In the 【虚 (Void)】 part, Taō Tuchiaya as Fushihime, Chie Kuriayama as Gyō, who controls darkness casting a curse on the Satomi family, and the eight swordsmen played by Keisuke Watanabe, Jin Suzuki, Riko Igagaki, Koji Mizukami, Kōdai Matsuoka, Sō, Yūki Kaku, and Mahito Fujioka, along with Yūmi Kawai and other prominent actors, bring vital roles to life.
The director is Fumihiko Sōri, known for 『Ping Pong』 and the 『Fullmetal Alchemist』 series.

● Story
During the Edo period, popular author Bakin Takizawa begins to tell his friend, artist Hokusai Katsushika, about his ongoing story, 『Hakkenden』.
It is an epic and bizarre tale of eight swordsmen, each holding a bead, who gather and face a grand battle to break the curse on the Satomi family, guided by fate.
Hokusai becomes instantly captivated, and repeatedly visits to draw sketches that stimulate Bakin’s creativity.
The story, which also captivated Hokusai, gains popularity and enters an unprecedented long serialization.
However, when reaching the climax, Bakin becomes blind.
Despite the bleak outlook for completion, he receives an offer from his stepdaughter to help.
