First CD release of the last anime music for girls left by Takao Watanabe!
This is a two-disc music collection compiling the theme songs, insert songs, and BGM from the TV anime "Lady Georgie" broadcast from 1983 to 1984.
The original work is a manga titled "Georgie!" by Yumiko Igarashi and Mitsuru Izawa, serialized in "Weekly Shōjo Comic" (Shogakukan). Directed by Shigetugu Yoshida, who also directed "Ohayō! Spank," the animation was produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha (now TMS Entertainment). It depicts the adventures and love of Georgie, a girl raised in Australia.
The music was composed by Takao Watanabe, known for "Heidi, Girl of the Alps" and "Candy Candy." His heartfelt melodies, combined with the singing voice of Yuriko Yamamoto who played Georgie, and the elegant arrangements by Nozomi Aoki, known for the music of "Galaxy Express 999," created a slightly more mature-sounding collection of classic girl’s anime songs.
At the time of broadcast, an LP album titled "Lady Georgie Music Collection" featuring all 6 theme and insert songs along with BGM was released, but except for 2 theme songs, none of the tracks had been released on CD until now. This album faithfully reproduces that "Music Collection" in its original form, adding previously unreleased recordings for a complete edition. All songs except the 2 theme songs are being released on CD for the first time.
Takao Watanabe sadly passed away at the young age of 56 in 1989, five years after this work aired. This was his last anime for girls. Please enjoy the masterpieces of anime music that Takao Watanabe passionately dedicated himself to.
