French Orchestral Colors
Since Noriaki Iimori assumed the position of chief conductor in 2014, the activities of the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra have been increasingly fulfilling. The orchestra responds with ensemble playing that perfectly matches the idea-rich and heartfelt maestro, and this image is engraved in this album, which was recorded alongside the concert in July 2019. The main theme running through the entire program is the French composers' inclination toward the "South" (that is, their attitude of seeking themes from Southern France, Spain, and Italy), and the quality of the sound and the pulse of the singing that suit this are created by the conductor and the musicians working as one, reflecting their close relationship. Adding to this is none other than the pianism of Yuki Yokoyama, who studied at the Paris Conservatory. (Kobata Issei)
Media reviews and others
A collection of French orchestral works by both Noriyuki Iimori, a highly popular mid-career conductor, and the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2019, both of whom are at a fulfilling stage. (C)RS
