【Story】
Mario receives a letter from Princess Peach asking for help with a treasure hunt and travels to "Gorotsuki Town." However, Princess Peach is nowhere to be seen. Seeking clues about Peach, Mario visits Professor Franklin, who researches treasures in the town. He learns that the "Thousand-Year Door" leads to the treasure, and that opening the door requires seven "Star Stones." Believing that pursuing the treasure will lead him to Princess Peach, Mario, along with Christine, whom he meets in town, sets out on an adventure in the Paper World to find the Star Stones. It also seems that not only Mario but also Bowser is searching for Princess Peach...
【The adventure takes place in a Paper World full of encounters and surprises】
At each destination, various events occur, such as a giant dragon waiting, residents suddenly turning into pigs, or incidents happening on the train. Sometimes, it seems impossible to proceed, but Mario uses his paper-like body to squeeze into narrow gaps or transforms into a paper airplane to fly through the sky, overcoming obstacles with actions unique to paper.

In each location, Mario meets slightly unusual characters. They help him with various abilities and personalities, such as Christine, who provides information about people, places, and enemies; Nokutaro, who is good at hiding in shells and charging; and Clouda, who can generate strong winds to blow away nearby objects. They become allies and support Mario’s adventure.
【Chaotic Theater Battle】
When Mario encounters enemies on the field, a turn-based command battle begins on a theater stage! Mario chooses from actions such as "Attack," "Item," "Special Skill," "Defend," and "Appeal to the Audience," depending on the strategy. Timing button presses correctly during attacks increases damage dealt to enemies, and the audience joins in to make the battle more exciting.
