Anarchy, consisting of Shigeru Nakano (Vo), Shinichi Fujinuma (G), Yasunari Hemmi (G), Nobuyoshi Teraoka (B), and Takao Kobayashi (Dr), won the Excellent Band Award and Best Vocalist Award at Yamaha's "East West" in their 4th year of formation, and made their major debut from Victor in 1980.
Dressed in former Japanese National Railways uniforms, their style and sound, which combined unvarnished, scathing messages with punk music, gained overwhelming support from the youth of the time, quickly making them a central figure in the scene.
They are a representative Japanese punk rock band, respected by numerous bands such as Dohatsuten, eastern youth, BRAHMAN, KEMURI, and J (LUNA SEA).
Their activities ceased in 1986. Since then, they have performed several reunion live shows. In July 2017, they were scheduled to perform a revival live at an event at Shinkiba COAST, but guitarist Hemmi suddenly passed away in June. The live performance was carried out with four members. This live performance was the catalyst for the members to decide to resume activities. The "incomplete revival" by the four original members will be released in 2017.
