In the early 21st century, a virus under development in a secret underground laboratory leaks. The main computer seals off the laboratory to prevent the infection from spreading to the surface. Eventually, a special forces unit infiltrates the facility, where they engage in a fierce battle against undead corpses and deadly weapons deployed by the computer. This is a violent action film based on the highly popular game. The film skillfully incorporates elements of the original game, such as the setting within the laboratory and the ending connecting to the beginning of the game's Part 1. It is arguably the best game adaptation to date. The fact that the splatter scenes are not overtly depicted is also commendable. While the lead actress, Milla Jovovich, has a weakness of closing her eyes when shooting a gun, she otherwise enjoys playing an active heroine. The director is Paul Anderson, also known for the game adaptation "Mortal Kombat." (Yasushi Matada)
