The scenario's theme is coexistence and conflict between different races and ethnicities. The game features fictional races, "Huma" and "Gajuma," with contrasting characteristics, depicting their coexistence and conflict. Therefore, the story has a heavy and dark tone throughout. The title "rebirth" signifies "rebuilding relationships between people and races." The theme of "ethnic issues" in the scenario was inspired by Masaki Hiramatsu, who was in charge of the main scenario, based on his experience traveling in Yugoslavia, where ethnic conflicts remained.
The battle system is based on the series' traditional Linear Motion Battle System (LMBS), but with an increase to three lines, it creates a three-dimensional representation of the battle field despite being 2D, called the "3-Line Linear Motion Battle System (3L-LMBS)." Unlike previous systems, the TP, which was an important parameter alongside HP, does not exist in this title.
In addition, while previous titles often featured passionate protagonists and fighting heroines, this installment is unusual in that the protagonist has a quiet and dark personality, and the heroine is an NPC who does not participate in combat.
