This is Enya's latest work, following her major debut album "Watermark" in 1988, with cumulative worldwide sales exceeding 75 million copies (over 4.5 million copies in Japan).
This is her 7th original album, and the first in 7 years since "May It Be" in 2008. The new album "Dark Sky Island" is greatly inspired by the "island of Sark," a real island in the British Channel Islands.
Sark has its own unique laws and autonomy even in the 21st century, such as the prohibition of car use, and is known as "the island where you can see the most beautiful starry sky in the world."
As with her previous works, the new album was produced with Enya, the central figure and lead singer, producer Nicky Ryan, and Nicky's wife and lyricist, Roma Ryan, at its core.
