SF Super finesse concept: a design philosophy for spinning reels that enables control at the millimeter level, surpassing traditional finesse. For this new challenge, Daiwa chose the flagship small spinning reel "EXIST". Why?

Daiwa does not seek peace in its flagship. It does not conform. It always wishes to be at the forefront of the fishing scene.

The EXIST SF, if I may say without fear of misunderstanding, is not an honor student. While inheriting the philosophy of EXIST, it has no common sense. It is not versatile but focused on a single point. The goal is super finesse that surpasses finesse.

Maintaining the basic performance of the EXIST, such as air drive design, full-metal Mg monocoque body, and Magshield, while pushing tuning to the limit. The target is bass, trout, and light saltwater using lines of 4 lb fluorocarbon, nylon, or PE gauge 0.6 or less, with thorough compactness and lightweight design. To achieve this, durability and waterproofing are sacrificed at a certain level, but the resulting territory is one no one has entered before.

Beyond the previous limits of finesse, the maneuverability that allows the lure to follow the imagined trajectory will bring a dense, one-on-one time with fish. The carefully minimized weight enables casting performance that can be swung without excessive force, contributing to distance and accuracy. The compact body, easy to hold in the palm, allows delicate feathering, promising precise approach. The short spool, with ATD TYPE-L, elevates line sliding to a higher level.

Downsizing the body

Compared to general-purpose machines, significantly downsized the body, achieving major compactness and weight reduction. In developing SF, the strength characteristics of the monocoque body were fully utilized by focusing solely on compactness. The body, fitting in the palm, also improves feathering performance.

BEYOND THE LIMIT 2. SPOOL SHORTENING

Spool shortening

The line capacity needed for the assumed line class was secured, and the spool width was boldly shortened. This achieved weight and size reduction, and improved drag release performance. The smaller line release angle reduces resistance when passing through the line roller, making the slide of ATD TYPE-L, optimized for light lines, even smoother.

BEYOND THE LIMIT 3. MAIN SHAFT CHANGING

Linear shaft conversion

The main shaft diameter was reduced. Additionally, the ball bearing at the rear of the pinion adopted in the air drive shaft was omitted, contributing to weight reduction. Meanwhile, the collar supporting the main shaft uses a high-precision collar equivalent to the air drive shaft, ensuring smooth and quiet winding.

Magshield reduction

Magshield is placed only at the pinion part. This ensures waterproof and dustproof performance for the intended fishing types while pursuing weight reduction.
