Magshield: The concept of "blocking liquid with liquid." A DAIWA-exclusive technology that prevents saltwater and dust from entering the reel by creating a wall of magnetically held oil that can exist semi-permanently. This revolutionary technology, announced in 2010, has continuously evolved with its application to line rollers and ball bearings, and is now an essential technology for DAIWA reels and anglers.

The drag force follows the fish's pull, controlling it and preventing the fish from taking the lead. A loose drag setting is effective to leverage this characteristic. While providing strong resistance during hooking, this setting allows the drag to be constantly engaged against the fish's pull, enabling landing even large fish without them thrashing excessively.

While maintaining the concept of reducing contact resistance of ABS II, the contact point is moved forward to achieve smoother line release. The effect of the ring being moved forward makes it harder for the line to ride on the ring, improving casting distance by approximately 5% and reducing troubles compared to conventional ABS II. This is truly the next-generation ABS spool that achieves LC (=LONG CAST).
