40th anniversary of Boz Scaggs' 'Silk Degrees', considered the originator of AOR! Still highly popular, the classic 70s-80s AOR works are now available at an affordable price of "1,000 yen"! The series supervision is by Toshikazu Kanazawa, known for Light Mellow. The artwork for this series is provided by Hiroshi Nagai, a legendary illustrator known for Eikichi Yazawa's 'A LONG VACATION'. Born in 1947, he has led bands bearing his name since the 1960s, leaving historic performances including Woodstock, and is still active today. This album was co-produced by Greg Rolie, who was part of the original Santana band, and Bill Simzik, a producer for the Eagles, delivering a sharp pop-rock sound. Lead vocalist Alex Ligertwood mainly handled songwriting. The track 'Hold On' (peaking at No. 15 in the US), which was not present in Santana's previous works, caused a big response in surfer disco and gained new fans. The album title 'Shango' means 'monkey' in Mexican.
