Initially released as a documentary accompanying the two-disc, three-volume album "The Beatles Anthology," this is only part of director Ken Burns' ambitious project. Nevertheless, unless you are a historian or a die-hard fan, you will likely be overwhelmed by the considerable amount of footage, especially concerning their early days and live performances in Liverpool, which exceeds expectations. The source material for this documentary is vast, including live footage and audio from the Beatles' early days before they established their signature style. In fact, it extensively features live footage, home videos, and archival material from the "Beatlemania" era, which began in 1963 and ended in 1970. The highlight, of course, is the interviews with the Beatles members. Along with "new Beatles songs" created by adding to two unreleased John Lennon tracks, unreleased Lennon interviews are included, where his scathing remarks can also be heard. This work can be considered a comprehensive record of the golden age of rock and roll, which Elvis Presley pioneered and the Beatles further developed and revolutionized.
