This is an animated film adaptation of the immensely famous original work by Shotaro Ishinomori. Nine cyborgs challenge the monster Plesiosaurus, which destroys cities with ultrasonic waves. The structure is like a collage, pieced together from fragments of situations from Ishinomori's original work. However, fans who deeply love the original work may frown at various depictions that differ from the original, such as 008 spitting water to attack the enemy, a character who should be 0010 being 0011, and 004's knife emerging from his right hand. Nevertheless, it is even moving that all the evil deeds are attributed to "Black Ghost," and the important line from the original work, "As long as there is hatred and conflict in the world, I will be reborn countless times," is faithfully preserved. The situation of Plesiosaurus attacking the city has a tokusatsu film touch. Also, the fact that Judy Ongg voices 003, Françoise, strongly evokes the era. (Morihiko Saito)
