About the Artist
Katsuki Tochio, Saxophone Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1986. Began activities with the Almo Saxophone Quartet while still a student and won the first-ever first prize for saxophone in the "Chamber Music" category of the 21st Min-On Competition. Participated in the World Saxophone Congress in 1988 (Kawasaki), 1992 (Pesaro, Italy), and 1997 (Valencia, Spain). In September 2000, performed at the Shenyang Music Festival at the invitation of Liaoning Province, China. Also held concerts in Dalian. Continues to perform recitals, broadcast, and record throughout Japan. Has frequently participated as a saxophone player in concerts by major orchestras and wind ensembles both domestically and internationally. Joined the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra in 2004 and, while active as a baritone saxophone player, is also focusing on various ensembles and solo activities, expanding the scope of his work. Has participated in numerous CD recordings. Studied saxophone under Tsutomu Kida, Shin Sakaguchi, and Kazuo Tomioka, and chamber music under Yuichi Omuro. Currently an adjunct lecturer at Musashino Academia Musicae and its affiliated Musashino High School, and at Shōtoku University.
