**Plot Summary**
In spring 1990, a decapitated Black boy’s body is found along the Potomac River in the eastern United States. Detective Kinderman (George C. Scott), investigating the case, recalls a series of similar murders from 15 years ago—the “Virgo Murders.” However, the perpetrator had already been executed. Subsequently, two priests are murdered in succession, confirming Kinderman’s fears.

One of the murdered priests is Kinderman’s close friend, Father Dyer (Ed Flanders). While investigating Dyer’s body at the hospital, Kinderman learns from a psychiatrist that among his patients is a man who, after losing his memory for 15 years, claims to be the “Gemini Killer” when recovered.

When Kinderman questions this patient, X (Jason Miller), he claims to be no one—“Legion,” a collective entity. Among this “Legion” is Father Damien, who 15 years ago risked his life to exorcise an evil spirit from a girl.
