Izu Oshima is an island floating south of Tokyo (Japan's capital). Due to its volcanic nature, it has poor water retention, and before the installation of waterworks, it was common to carry spring water on the head, as depicted in the scenery of Izu Oshima.
This souvenir kokeshi is designed to represent the scenery of Izu Oshima.

They come in many designs, including motifs of famous sightseeing spots, landscapes, and local specialties.- Creative Kokeshi: Since there are no specific regulations or definitions, they feature a wide variety of designs.
In particular, "Traditional Kokeshi" dolls were toys for children before industrial products appeared. Because they were used for playing house, carrying, and piggybacking, they were made with simple shapes consisting only of a head and body to prevent breakage.
Within these simple dolls, children have long used their imagination to create stories and live alongside them, making them historically significant dolls.

Also, be cautious as mold may develop in overly humid environments.- The product for sale includes only the kokeshi doll. Small accessories are not included.
