The fifth album, where returning to the roots and innovation intersect, is now available on vinyl! DYGL (Dayglo) has completed their fifth album, *Who's in the House?*. After musical journeys through their first to fourth albums, this album can be seen as a complete turning point—either a return to their origins or a venture into entirely new territory.
All tracks were recorded without a metronome, with all instruments played simultaneously in a single take. This approach aims to liberate the music from strict grid timing and to create a more live, authentic feel.
The album features a more physical and raw approach, giving it the impression of a live setlist. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a renewed focus on music as a physical encounter and experience.
Despite being their fifth album, the band members unanimously refer to it as the "first chapter" of a new DYGL, marking a fresh start.
Originating from Japan's island nation and cultivated within the urban environment of Tokyo, their diverse musical encounters weave together like a tapestry, reminiscent of Japanese magazine culture, culminating in DYGL’s unique sound.
This album serves as a new framework connecting their previous works with future releases.
For recording and mixing, Stephanie "Slozza" Loza, based in LA, USA, who has also worked with Remi Wolf, Duckwrth, Masego, and others, was responsible.
