This furoshiki is a collaboration between "Lotta Jansdotter," a popular textile artist in the Nordic design world, and "Link Collective," a brand that creates unique textile products, primarily furoshiki.
"Svcall (Wave)" is a design inspired by the nature of the "Åland Islands," Lotta's hometown, located between Sweden and Finland.
It is printed one by one by artisans in Kyoto using the traditional Japanese dyeing technique of "Tenassen" (hand-dyeing).Unlike mass-produced items, each color is carefully printed layer by layer, aligning the screens, which results in rich subtle color variations and pattern expressions.
The slight overlaps and occasional blurring of colors, unique to handcrafting and unachievable by machines, become the individuality of each cloth, giving it a warm feel.This is a piece imbued with the memory of human hands, unlike mass-produced items.
