"Ichiyō Raifuku" (一陽来福) is a four-character idiom meaning that good fortune will come after a period of bad luck."Ichiyō" also signifies the turning point from winter to spring, and "Raifuku" means to return, thus representing a transition from a dark to a bright environment.

* Born in Sapporo in 1941.* Studied under Kanō Shunsetsu.* Met Morita Shiryū and Inoue Yūichi, and joined the Bokujin-kai (墨人会).* Received the Bokujin Award in 1966 and became a member of Bokujin-kai.* Received the 준大賞 (Jun Taishō - Semi Grand Prize) at the "Nihon Gendai Shōten" (日本現代書展 - Japan Contemporary Calligraphy Exhibition).* Lecturer for the NHK correspondence high school course "Ikkyū".* Appeared in numerous lectures and talk shows on calligraphy.* Has research publications such as "Kamigami no Sho" (神々の書 - The Calligraphy of Gods) and "Shojin no Kotoba ni Kiku" (書人の言葉に聞く - Listening to the Words of Calligraphers), which examine the history of calligraphy from a unique perspective.* His calligraphy work spans a wide range of fields, including numerous collaborations and calligraphy performances with artists such as Kansai Yamamoto and Ryudo Uzaki.* Held many solo exhibitions.
