Enrich your visits to shrines and temples.
The goshuincho (temple/shrine stamp book) is a large B6 size, measuring approximately 18cm (7.08 inches) in height and 12cm (4.72 inches) in width. This convenient size allows for neatly attaching pre-filled goshuin stamps.
It features a folding accordion-style format with 48 pages in total (24 pages on each side).Like an accordion, a single long sheet of paper is folded, allowing you to view multiple goshuin at a glance when opened.
Beyond its use as a goshuincho, it's also a versatile item that can be used as a mini notebook, scrapbook, travel journal, recipe book, or portfolio, depending on your creativity. Each time you hold it, your mind will feel at ease, making your shrine and temple visits even more fulfilling.
Craftsmanship that Highlights the Charm of Hand-Dyeing
The hand-dyed Japanese paper used for this goshuincho is meticulously finished one by one by Yuzen Washi dyeing artisans at a specialized factory in Kyoto.
Its appeal lies in the deep colors and unique texture achieved through traditional techniques.
Looking closely at the pattern, you can see the delicate layering of colors unique to hand-dyeing.The subtle variations in shade and bleeding enhance the handcrafted texture, creating a one-of-a-kind beauty.
Each sheet is carefully dyed individually, resulting in a depth and warmth that cannot be replicated by simple printing.
The finished hand-dyed Japanese paper is then assembled into books one by one by Kyoto box-making artisans. The subtle differences in each book create a sense of exclusivity, making it uniquely yours.
Please experience the charm of this texture and warmth, born from the hands of artisans.
The Wishes and Prayers Embodied in the Nanten Pattern
Nanten: A Ward Against Evil
Nanten was introduced from China during the Heian period and has been valued since ancient times as an herbal medicine for suppressing coughs. It is cherished as an auspicious tree, bearing many glossy red berries from late autumn to early winter, and its name, "Nanten," sounds like "Nan o tenjite fuku to nasu" (turning misfortune into good fortune), embodying a wish for good luck.Furthermore, placing it at the entrance is believed to ward off evil spirits and prevent negative energy from entering. An encyclopedia from the Edo period states that "planting Nanten prevents fires," and it was planted in many homes in unfavorable directions as a "fire ward" to protect the safety of the house.
Available in a warm red tone and a refreshing blue tone, these two color options offer a unique yet subdued aesthetic, making them perfect accessories to brighten your goshuin collecting journeys.
*Please note that due to the cutting of large sheets of paper, the pattern placement may vary from one item to another.
