One of the series, Nanten (Japanese sacred holly), is a plant that has been cherished since ancient times as a "magical protector" and "ward against evil."
The auspicious motifs have been modernized to blend seamlessly with contemporary lifestyles.

It is made from traditional canvas fabric from the domestic brand "Fujikinbai," woven with a rare shuttle loom, and each piece is carefully woven by hand.
The high-quality canvas fabric is hand-dyed by artisans at a dyeing factory in Kyoto, using traditional techniques that produce rich colors and a unique texture.

**The Wishes and Prayers Embedded in the Nanten Pattern**

Nanten was introduced from China during the Heian period and has been valued as a medicinal plant to suppress coughs since ancient times.
It produces shiny red berries from late autumn to early winter, and its name, "Nanten," is read as "Nantō," meaning "difficult to turn" or "hardship to fortune," symbolizing the wish to "turn difficulties into happiness."
Additionally, placing Nanten at the entrance is believed to ward off evil spirits.
An encyclopedia from the Edo period states, "Planting Nanten prevents fires," and many households planted it in inauspicious directions as a fire prevention measure, thus protecting the safety of the home.
