Textile Artist Samiro YunokiBorn in Tokyo in 1922. Studied art history at the University of Tokyo, but his studies were interrupted by the war. While working at the Ohara Museum of Art, he encountered Soetsu Yanagi's "Mingei" (Folk Crafts) movement and became a disciple of textile artist Keisuke Serizawa, embarking on a path in dyeing.
Since then, he has been active as a leading figure in stencil dyeing, holding solo exhibitions in Paris from 2008 to 2010, where he received high acclaim. In 2014, over 70 of his works were acquired by the Musée national des arts asiatiques-Guimet in France.
