[About the Work]
Unexpectedly, career woman Akiko is suddenly told she is being fired!
In her daughter Miyuki's room, now a university student, store manager Mugita appears naked to greet her!?
And in his arms, there is a baby! Whose baby is it?!

This is a completely new story filled with love among the tumultuous beginning, featuring the mother-in-law, daughter, and the people supporting the two of them. "Mother-in-Law and Daughter's Blues" is based on the four-panel manga "Mother-in-Law and Daughter's Blues" by Suzusawa Rin (published by Bunkasha), and was broadcast in the July 2018 quarter on the Tuesday drama slot.

It depicts the ten-year story of a career woman who is suddenly proposed to and marries a man with an 8-year-old daughter, enters a different world of household chores and mom friends, and works hard to become her daughter's mother, portraying their daily life.

The story features three intertwined elements: the mother-in-law, the daughter, and the daughter's biological father, creating a slightly humorous everyday life as the lovable characters play out their interactions. Amidst this, glimpses of sharp loneliness are also shown, earning high praise from a wide audience for making viewers laugh and cry.

This time, the story is set one year after the events of the serial drama, told through an original drama story.

Main cast members from the serial drama, including Haruka Ayase, Takeru Sato, Moeka Kamishiraishi, Kai Inowaki, Yosuke Asari, Kazuki Asano, and Yumi Aso, will appear in this work.

Additionally, Takuya Ueno, who played Ryoichi Miyamoto, Akiko's husband who passed away due to illness during the series, will also appear.

Beyond the regular cast, a cast of talented and distinctive actors will also appear.

[Plot Summary]
One year after the mother-in-law Akiko (Haruka Ayase) re-entered the workforce, in fall 2019.
Akiko lives separately in Osaka, while her daughter Miyuki (Moeka Kamishiraishi) is in Tokyo.
Akiko is thriving at a major consulting firm, achieving remarkable results that make her feel no ten-year career gap.

Miyuki, now a college student, remains her lovable, laid-back self, enjoying club activities and part-time jobs in her cozy daily life.
Her relationship with childhood friend Hiroki (Kai Inowaki) remains unchanged.

One day, Akiko suddenly receives notice of her dismissal and returns to Tokyo. She visits Miyuki’s apartment for the first time in a while.

There, she encounters Mugita (Takeru Sato), the manager of Miyuki’s part-time job at a bakery, emerging from the bath with only a towel!
And in his arms, there is a baby! Could it be that Miyuki and Mugita have a child?!

"Th-That’s not true, Mr. Miyamoto!!"
"No, it’s not! Mom!!"
Confused by this incomprehensible situation, Akiko is left bewildered…
