【When a person is close to the character for sorrow, it becomes gentle - Fully appreciating the richness of unaccompanied gamba】
"Music temporarily alleviates worries," but "sometimes we sing to continue carrying sorrow." Since the Shakespearean era when such songs were popular, the sound of the viola da gamba has always been accompanied by melancholy. Like a gentle person standing beside sorrow, please listen to music that harmonizes with and accepts anxiety and sadness (Kaori Kamimura).

Kaori Kamimura, who has long been active as a core member of the renowned Belgian ensemble Ricercar Consort, which strongly impressed us with the breadth and flavor of pre-Bach music performed on period instruments, and who has also performed delicately with Le Poème Harmonique, has performed numerous masterpieces in trio with her partners Ryo Terakobe and Christophe Ruse, and has maintained a quiet presence as a world-class viola da gamba player traveling between Europe and Japan. Her first unaccompanied album, known for its careful production, is released from the RAMEE label. Starting with the masterpieces of Tobias Hume, a unique figure of the English Renaissance, and including works by the father and son Sante-Colombe, Marais, Forqueré, and from the 18th century Abel and the recently rediscovered Telemann, her calm and confident performances, focused on "playing alone," embody the richness of a rare artist who never loses her interpretive stance regardless of where she is in the world. The album includes insightful commentary by the performer himself (also in Japanese in the original booklet), making it a deeply engaging listening experience. These timeless masterpieces, spanning centuries, are presented with the natural engineering characteristic of RAMEE, allowing listeners to connect with the music in their own auditory experience—an auspicious encounter in the history of early music recordings.

Media reviews and more:
Kaori Kamimura, who has been a key member of the distinguished Belgian ensemble Ricercar Consort, which left a strong impression on us with its performances of pre-Bach music on period instruments, and who has also performed delicately with Le Poème Harmonique, releases her first unaccompanied album from the carefully crafted RAMEE label. Starting with the masterpieces of Tobias Hume, a unique figure of the English Renaissance, and including works by the Sante-Colombe father and son, Marais, Forqueré, and from the 18th century Abel and the recently rediscovered Telemann, her calm and confident "playing alone" approach reflects her rare ability to maintain her interpretive stance worldwide.
