Fudō Myō-ō
Fudō Myō-ō, known as Acala in Sanskrit, is a significant guardian deity in Buddhism, especially revered in Japanese esoteric Buddhism (Mikkyo). Fudō Myō-ō is an incarnation of Dainichi Nyorai (Mahavairocana) and is often depicted with an angry expression and a fearsome appearance. However, his anger is meant to destroy evil and protect believers.
Fudō Myō-ō is characterized by a halo of flames, a stern expression, a large sword (Kōma-ken), and a rope (Kensaku). The sword symbolizes the power to cut through ignorance and worldly desires, while the rope represents the ability to bind evil spirits and bad habits. Fudō Myō-ō holds the sword in his right hand and the rope in his left hand.
