“Shashin Jidai Junior” (also known as Shashin Jidai Jr.) is a Japanese monthly (or bimonthly) culture and idol magazine launched by Byakuya Shobo in 1982

As a sister publication to the legendary adult photography magazine *Shashin Jidai*, it primarily targeted the youth of the time (boys and girls), idols, and the “camera-obsessed teens” boom.

With the subtitle “BOYS DO CAMERA-LIFE,” it featured the lifestyles of boys and girls through cameras and photography, as well as numerous gravure spreads of young idols.

Renowned photographers such as Nobuyoshi Araki contributed to the magazine, and rare photo spreads of popular idols of the time—including Akiko Matsumoto, Tsukasa Ito, and Hiroko Mita—gained widespread popularity.

The magazine’s editor-in-chief was Akira Suei, a legendary editor who had also made a name for himself at *Shashin Jidai*.

It stands as one of the most important publications in the history of subculture, representing a fusion of the camera boom and idol culture of that era.
