１．描写性能を高める ""HDコーティング注1""の採用
レンズコーティングの全面的な見直しをおこない、可視光域における平均反射率を従来比で約50％以下に抑えた最新の高性能マルチコーティング""HDコーティング""を採用しています。従来のマルチコーティングに比べ、より反射が少なく透過率が高いので、逆光などの厳しい撮影条件下でのゴーストやフレアーの発生を効果的に抑えています。さらに、色収差を良好に補正する特殊低分散（ED）ガラスを採用し、コントラストが高くクリアな描写を実現しています。
注1：「HD」はHigh Definitionの略。
２．魚眼レンズ機能を備えたズームレンズ
当社のデジタル一眼カメラに装着すると、焦点距離10mm時にAPS-Cサイズで対角線画角180°という魚眼レンズの画像が得られます。加えて、わずかな焦点距離の違いによって大きく変化する画角、強い遠近感、被写体のデフォルメ、画面全体にピントが合ったパンフォーカス撮影といった、超広角レンズの特性を生かした映像表現を楽しむことができます。
３．最新機種にマッチする新デザイン
ベースとなった「smc PENTAX-DA FISH-EYE 10-17mmF3.5-4.5ED[IF]」のサイズ感はそのままに、デザインを一新しています。最新のDA、D FAレンズに合わせた新デザインで、Kシリーズデジタル一眼レフカメラとのマッチングも良く、超広角レンズながら軽量コンパクトに仕上げています。また、新たにフードの取り外しを可能としたことで、「PENTAX K-1」「PENTAX K-1 Mark II」装着時には、円形に近い構図で魚眼撮影注2を楽しむこともでき、写真表現の幅が広がります。
注2：フードなし、クロップ機能「FF」で撮影した場合。レンズイメージサークル外の撮影となるため、周辺部の像性能低下やケラレが発生する場合があります。
４．汚れに強いSP（Super Protect）コーティングの採用
レンズ前面にSP（Super Protect）コーティングを採用しています。特殊なフッ素系物質を蒸着させることで撥水性と撥油性を備え、汚れがつきにくく、指紋などの油汚れも簡単に落とすことができ、屋外での撮影環境下でも安心して使用できます。
